  • Notes
    • In 1692, James Shedden was a Lowland Fencible man at Killeonan. This was likely the same person or could have been his son.

On 20 October 1709 James, along with John Ryburn, John Fleming, and Mathew Ryburn younger, received a tack for three of the four merklands of Kelleonan.

James Shedden married Margaret Rosse on 30 December 1697. They baptized the following children:
      Agnes 1698
      John 1700
      Jean 1702
      Alexander 1704
      William 1706
      James 1709
      Janet 1711
      Agnes 1716

James may have been the son of John Sheddan and Jenat Longwill, who baptized a son named James in Campbeltown on 19 November 1671 [507 11/13]. They baptized a son named Alexander in 1678 and his occupation was listed as shoemaker.

The naming pattern suggests that Margaret's parents were named Agnes and Alexander, and James's parents were named John and Jean. More research is needed to confirm his parents identity.
