  • Notes
    • In 1692, John and William Kirkland in Barr, and Hugh in Balnagregan were Lowland fencible men.

In 1694, Hew Kirkland occupied a hearth in Coallhill & Ballegregan, and John Kirkland occupied a hearth and kiln in Barr. Katrin Andersone also occupied a hearth in Barr and may have been a widow to William.

On 5 July 1711 John Kirkland married Effe NcLeas/McLeas. They baptized the following children
      Margaret - 1712
      Helen - 1714
      Hugh - 1720

Since there is only one individual with this name residing in Campbeltown during this period, the assize entry has been attributed to him.

It's likely that John was the son of Hew Kirkland, who was living at Balnagregan in 1692 and Coalhill in 1694.
