  • Notes
    • In 1692, Iver McNuiar in Killigreir, and John Mcnuiar in Ernikell were fencible men.

In 1694, John Mcnuair in Ernikle, Iver McInuer in Blary, and Iver McInuer in Killigrewer, all occupied hearths.

On 20 October 1709 Archibald Cunnison "now in Killean" received a tack for the "20/- land of Drumnamucklach presently possessed by John McNuer and the other tenants thereof."

This entry indicates that John McNuer was likely the previous tacksman.

While McKerral listed McNair as a Lowland family name, Angus Martin disagrees with his assessment. Due to the fact that at this time most people in Killean were likely Gaelic speakers, this person has been classified as such. However, the presence of other McInnair families in the early Lowland parish records does give credence to McKerral's claim. See KF, p. 386, and KSC, p. 176, for further information.
